Cleaning your quartz worktop

Tips on how to care for your quartz worktop

The best way to clean your worktop is with warm soapy water to remove any surface dirt. A very mild detergent or dishwashing liquid is also recommended. Rinse this off with clean water and polish with a soft white cloth.
For more stubborn marks or residue we recommend cif or flash bicarbonate.
Never use abrasive cleaners like oven cleaning pads, bleach or caustic cleaners.
We recommend the use of chopping boards. Do not chop directly on the quartz surface.
Avoid contact with solvents like paint and furniture strippers
To prevent discoloration avoid contact with permanent markers, inks, hair dyes or oil based soaps
Be mindful of excessive heat from pans and always use trivets or hot pads under pots and pans.

Overall quartz is very hardworking in the kitchen, it is strong and non porous and usually only needs a gentle cleaner or neutral soap to keep it sparkling.

Have a look at a beautiful contemporary, modern kitchen we recently fitted with a DEKTON countertop. Dekton is making waves in kitchen interiors due to its hardworking and clever composition and great selection of available colours and designs.

WHAT IS DEKTON?

“It’s made of a combination of quartz, porcelain, and glass. Described as a hybrid of the best materials in the market for surfacing, It’s a new product category. There are similar products from an aesthetic sense but nothing like it from composition. The look and feel is unique. ” says Lorenzo Marquez, vice president of marketing for Cosentino North America, the manufacturer.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES?

*High UV Resistance

Dekton is highly resistant to ultra violet (UV) light and will not fade or degrade over time making it perfect for both indoor and outdoor applications.

*Highly Scratch-resistant

Dekton is the most scratch resistant surface on the market and while the slip of a knife won’t damage Dekton, cutting boards are still recommended to protect your household utensils.

*Resistant to stains

While other surfaces are stain resistant, Dekton is completely Stain Proof. Even the most stubborn stains like wine, coffee, markers and rust can easily be removed from the surface. Since Dekton has extremely low porosity and contains no resins, it is chemically resistant. Drips or splashes of common household chemicals like bleach, drain cleaners or oven degreasers won’t harm Dekton.

*High Resistance to fire and heat

Dekton withstands high temperatures without burning, scorching or cracking. Hot Pots and Appliances like Crock Pots can be placed directly on the surface with no worry of damage.

*Resistant to abrasion

Dekton is even more resistant to abrasion than granite making it the ideal surface for commercial applications and high traffic areas such as flooring. While other surfaces show wear over time, Dekton’s finish will last for the life of the product and never needs to be re-surfaced or re-finished.

*Resistant to ice & thawing

Dekton’s low coefficient of thermal expansion makes it Thermal Shock proof from both extreme heat and extreme cold. It’s natural resistance to ice and thawing makes it perfect for use in even the coldest environments.

This is a new granite colour from the Silestone Sensa range . This is would make a stunning worktop and bring life to any kitchen. There is a lot of movement and variation in this colour which adds to the natural beauty of the slab. It also has the wow factor . It a stone that you can look at all day, like an amazing piece of art. it has shades of grey, black, creams and hint of purple specks.

Add to this the fact the it is a sensa stone which means it comes with a silestone warrenty for staining.

We were asked to make a Lazy Susan for a customer in Letterkenny who had already ordered a large circular table fabricated from Compac Quartz . He wanted the L.S. to match the worktop he already had

A Lazy Susan if you didn’t already know is in this case a piece of circular stone that rotates on a bearing which would normally hold condiments . The one pictured is showcasing a local craft beer , a new pilsner called “Dirty Chick” from Inishowen based craft brewers, Boghopper Brewery and its gorgeous. Check out boozers where this is available on their website www.boghopper.ie/

The piece of stone is 16″ in diameter and was machine on our CNC. We ordered a special bearing that would take the weight which is attached to a piece of edged MDF

A new colour brought in by cosentino. Its called Orinico and its a Sensa granite from cosention which means it is sealed and come with a cosentino warranty. This would make a stunning granite worktop. I will be posting new colours as we get them so that you can see the massive collection of stone that is available to fabricate here in Carndonagh, Donegal
